We are seeking a CNC machinist to join our Cryogenics team in developing novel systems that can cool down quantum chips to temperatures near absolute zero. In this role, you will draw on your experience with CNC and conventional machining to build a wide variety of components for our cryogenic systems. You will rely on your eye for detail and ability to work in a clean, organized, and safe fashion to fabricate high-quality products needed for our applications.

  • Interpreting mechanical drawings and producing parts according to specifications;
  • Performing setup operations;
  • Running manual mills, lathes, and drill presses;
  • Developing toolpaths (programming) for CNC lathes and mills;
  • Operating CNC lathes and mills;
  • Machining small parts with fast turnaround for prototyping;
  • Maintaining a clean and organized shop area.


  • 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment;
  • 3+ years of CNC machining and programming experience;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.


  • Ability to read and follow mechanical drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T);
  • Ability to measure and inspect conformance of machined parts to provided specifications;
  • Experience in developing setups and work holding strategies for making new parts;
  • Ability to program CNC machines using CAM software;
  • Experience operating CNC machines and
  • Familiarity G-codes and M-codes;
  • Experience operating manual mills and lathes;
  • Experience with 5 axis CNC machines is an asset;
  • An eye for detail and ability to work in a clean and safe manner;
  • Ability to work independently and quickly find solutions to problems.
